Happiest New Year to You!

Just a quick post to wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year in 2011!

2010 was a wonderful year for me… bringing much excitement from gaining readership to this little blog to sorting through all the nooks and crannies of my very first cookbook. And, of course, the confidence to announce the coming of my very first cookbook. :)

I have a few special treats planned for this year; one of the big ones include finally wrapping up this book project of mine. I can’t explain to you guys how excited I am about getting as far as I have with it.  I embarked on this project back in 2008… but had to kind of re-do everything with the discovery of me having celiac disease last December.

Happily, though, in 2010 I learned to not only “cope” with no more gluten in my life… but instead I truly embraced it.  For real, I ♥♥♥♥♥ being gluten free! Now I am excited to announce that my “new and improved” book version will be 100% vegan & gluten-free, and every single bit as delicious as my original idea.

My goal for 2011 is to not necessarily land a book  publishing deal (although that would be stellar!), but to complete the book in it’s entirety (all. of. it.) by the middle of 2011. So, in the time between now and then- expect me to be whipping out some interesting recipes on Manifest Vegan influenced by some of the stuffs I am including in my book.  Don’t worry… I’m going to stick to regular recipe posting as I have been; you just may hear about writing this book a little more often than usual. :)

Oh, and sometime in the near future in 2011 look for my Call for Recipe Testers! I’ll need a few of you guys soon… just to make sure all the recipes are up to par with your refined and discriminating palates.

I also want to extend a heart felt thank you to every single one of you.  Seriously, in just a little over one year, all of you have helped to shape Manifest Vegan into what it is today. Without all of your support and chiming in with comments, tweets, and facebook commentary… well, I simply wouldn’t be here doing what I’m doing today. To all of you- lurkers, scoffers, commenters, friends, family: thank you.

    I really hope you get a publishing deal, and would love to be a tester!

    In terms of the market, the gluten free market is growing and growing. There needs to be a GF vegan/vegetarian niche. All of those fake meat substitutes, like Tofurky, Gardein … all have gluten. I always said GF would be the hardest, until I discovered I am slightly gluten intolerant. This is the ONLY place I can go for creative, relatively easy GF vegan recipes. And, it suddenly doesn’t seem all that hard … BTW, I love freezing some of this stuff.

    You address an unmet need … so hopefully that works. Are you on FB pages? Like Celiac Diva?

    Oh what wonderful news. If you don’t get a book deal all of your fans, led by me, are going to start a letter writing campaign to any idiot publisher who would be dumb enough to turn down your heavenly concoctions. Of course, any publisher that dumb deserves to see their revenues diminish while some other savvier publishing house reaps the rewards of all your hard work. Surely though that can’t and won’t happen. I can’t be the only one who’s been on the receiving end of some of those cash for trash books. We NEED you to get published. It’s such a relief to be able to turn to a recipe and have it work, to not spend hours and $$$ only to end up with something you either trash or choke down because there is literally, nothing else!
    I’ve said this before – not only do your recipes always work (except for pancake nerds, but we won’t go there) they are always wonderful. They’re even wonderful when I don’t have a specific ingredient and need to change up the flours or binders. You are one inspired, talented, lovely woman. You deserve to be a best seller. You also deserve a blessed, happy and healthy New Year. All the best of this and everything to you and your family.

    omigosh- that potato dosa is making my mouth water! the other two look delish as well! i love your blog so so much- it’s my very favorite (i actually refer to you in conversation as my “gluten-free vegan blogger crush”. i hope that’s not weird.) i get so excited everytime you post! it’s so great to have another gluten-free vegan out there that makes it look so easy! i’ve tried so many of your recipes now and i can whole-heartedly say that all of them were fantastic, and even helped ease my husband into veganism(you gotta convert them with sweets, or that’s how i did it ;) !) also- i’m letting you know now- i want to be one of your taste testers!!!! you’re the best and an inspiration. thank you for all the amazing recipes <3
